Fashion & Graphics

Fashion & graphics have been great buddies till time immemorial. Wherever there's an ensemble in mind, the prints take that ensemble to another level. Long gone are the days where flowers & butterflies were the only print form! The new age graphics are here and to stay. Here are some designers who've smartly incorporated smarter graphics in their Resortwear 2011 collections. :)

Erdem Resort 2011.
Two clashing prints mixed together, both graphic in nature.
 Looks suprisingly cool
& perfectly wearable due to the varying size of the two graphics and the base shades being from the same color family. This trend is surely catching on, and I think its high time, all girls give it a try! :)
Lela Rose Resort 2011.
The most simplest of graphics, The Flora has been used in a very cunning way ( and by cunning I mean it in a very respectful manner) to make it look new age. Notice the subtle usage of  a geometric form to give the print depth.
Julie Haus Resort 2011.
The subdued rose color infused with a psychedelic print gives way to a whole new thought, psychedelic doesn't always need to be bright and eye pinching. THIS is the new psychedelic!
Matthew Williamson Resort 2011
I had to include him in the list. Its absolutely impossible to be making a list of Crazy Printed Ensembles, and not have Matthew Williamson's name in it. This man knows how graphic and prints work and can find a way around every print, & make it work. For example, check this ensemble in a vivid red oriental-psychedelic print! The silhouette & the print are clashing, but hey, thats when Mr. Williamson steps in & makes it right!
Whoever so is reading this check this whole collection out!

Temperley London Resort 2011
The prints used in this collection by Temperley London are reminiscent of the prints used by Ricardo Tisci for Givenchy in the Spring 2010 RTW collection. But nonetheless the prints used in this collection, though black and white, have been used refreshingly, occident and orient prints have been blended together in a eye pleasing manner! ;)

Vionnet Resort 2011
Former womemswear designer at Prada, Rodolfo Paglialunga has taken the baton of this dying  fashion house & revived like how!! The resortwear collection from the house of Vionnet, is a reflection of the iconic designer in a very contemporary manner. The collection has followed the lines & cuts that made Vionnet famous, but only for a modern day woman! Eclectic floral prints disguised by colors, placements and pleats are a major in this collection!

Sachin & Babi for Ankasa, Resort 2011.
Everyone should check this design duo out!! The Indian roots of the designer duo is perfectly portrayed in this collection, with the use of ikat textiles and ikat-like prints on western silhouettes , and with the use of sequins & beads.

Suno Resort 2011
Max Osterweis and Erin Beatty have used vintage african textiles to give an optimistic look to this collection. A neon pink & black  striped jacket has been used over a splatter paint printed shirt-dress, to give a non-chalant feel to this look.

Richard Nicoll Resort 2011
A uniform shift dress in white with a graphic print surrounding the maximum area, the print being distorted a little to make it eye catching!

*This post includes pictures from the resort collection of designers who we usually tend to overlook. so i decided to look them up, and see what their collections are about, and thus this post! Hope you enjoyed it! :)
